Riakiberu belongs to the Kamacharia Farmers Cooperative Society in Kamacharia, Murang’a County. He maximises his production by training in good farming practices, with manure and inputs applied where necessary. The company is made up of smallholders growing mainly SL28, with a small amount of Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties. This area has two harvests, one from March to May, with the main harvest season being from October to December.
The Riakiberu coffee factory is covered by red volcanic soil which infuses it with all the mineral and organic qualities necessary for optimal production. It has an annual rainfall of 1,200 m to 1,650 m above sea level. In addition, it enjoys cool temperatures of 16-26°C. In addition to coffee, bananas and maize are common crops. Grevillea or macadamia trees are also planted to provide shade for the growing coffee trees.
